11th October

Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 11th October in years gone by.

In 1521 Henry VIII was given the title “Defender of the Faith”.

In 1899 the Boer War began.

In 1982 the Mary Rose was finally raised to the surface.

In 2013 we lost access to our wildlife area to ‘progress’.

North winds chill the air

memories of battles lost

chill our hearts and souls.
