BUILDING BLOCKS OF HISTORY 24TH MAY

Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 24th May in years gone by.

In  1543 Nicholas Copernicus received the first copy of On the Revolutions of Heavenly Spheres, on his deathbed.

1n 1819 Princess Alexandrina Victoria was born in Kensington Palace.

In 1956 the first Eurovision Song Contest was held.

In 2014 we went to the new Wembley Stadium for a play-off final.

  1. Here in Ontario we talk about the May Two Four weekend. It is the Victoria Day weekend ( an may not always follow exactly on May 24th) the rule is that you never plant out annuals or new/young plants until the May Two four weekend is over because until then there is always a danger of frost. so they say.
