Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 3rd May in years gone by.

In  1469 Niccolo Machiavelli was born.

In 1810 Lord Byron swam the Hellespont , emulating Leander.

In 1951 George VI opened the Festival of Britain.

In 2008 we watched carriage driving trials.

Intricate intrigues

and elaborate plans of

The Prince and a king.
