Building blocks of History 8th February

Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 8th  February in years gone by.

In 1587 Mary, Queen of Scots was executed.

In 1952 Elizabeth II was proclaimed Queen of the United Kingdom.

In 1996 scientists discovered that the South Pole was 18 inches away from where they thought it was.

In 2009 we were enjoying the snow.

Frozen ice crystals

Lodged deep in her royal heart

Brooking no rival.
