Building Blocks of History 4th January

Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 4th January in years gone by.

In 1885 the first successful appendectomy was performed.

In 1958 Explorer Hillary reached the South Pole.

In 2000 Fiona Thornewill & Catherine Hartley (first British women)  reached the South Pole.

In 2017, and most years, I go back to work after the Christmas break.

Another cold, dark

Refocus the mind

On goals for this year.
