Building Blocks of History 24th August

Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 24th August in years gone by.

In 79AD Mount Vesuvius erupted.

In 1875 Captain Matthew Webb became the first person to swim the English Channel.

In 1932 Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the USA non-stop.

In  2015 I visited Nottingham Castle.

Personal success

Iconic moments in time

Crammed for exams.
