Building Blocks of History 3rd August

Things happen every day, big and small. Together they make our family history, our local history, our country’s history and sometimes they become part of global history.

All of these things happened on 3rd August in years gone by.

In 1460 James II of Scotland was killed by an exploding cannon.

In 1492 Columbus set sail from Palos de la Frontera.

In 1914 Germany declared war on France.

In 2013 I went to my first football match.

New chapters begin

Good and bad, without warning.

Despite careful plans.
