This week’s challenge is Masterpiece. This is the flight of 10 staircase locks at Foxton, a masterpiece of engineering built between 1810 and 1814. It takes about 45 minutes to through the full flight if you have the luxury of no waiting. Now a Grade II Listed structure and popular tourist attraction, it is fascinating to see it working and well worth a visit if you are in the area.

so enjoyed these photographs. Funnily enough, I’d contemplated posting one of the French locks for this challenge. But this was a lovely trip down memory lane. We used to be narrowboaters on the Grand Union, based at Welton Hythe. Thanks for the memories.
My pleasure Sandra
I thought of you as soon as I saw this, Sandra, so it was funny to come and see that you’d already been here. These are certainly masterpieces and I’d love to go on them someday.

Great choice! Amazing what engineers can do with a little imagination, isn’t it?!
Absolutely! Where would we be without them?

Great collection of photos! I also think the locks and canals that run through England is a great masterpiece of engineering
🙂 Thanks.
I remember taking a cute 3 year old there and trying to keep him out of the water! (he’s 23 now 🙂 )
🙂 I did the same when mine were small – not good for the nerves. But like your 3 year old they lived to tell the tale!
