Speculass Biscuits

advent-day-5Day 5 brings four little Speculass (they look like 4 little decorations on the wall on either side of the fireplace).  Apparently the people of  Holland make these little biscuits on the 5th. They are called Speculaas because the dough mirrors the image of the mould.   I’d never heard of them but managed to find a variety of recipes on the internet. With a  busy day at work, followed by a meeting and then a quick dash home for a visit from my DD and the arrival of the Christmas Tree I wasn’t sure if I would be able to bake them  today. But then, as luck would have it, when I went shopping for the ingredients last night I spotted a ‘ready made’ packet  on the shelf.  Here they are. They have a delicate cinnamon taste.
